+ Once you know how combat and everything
else works, game is really fun.
Parrying to defend the enemy
attacks is absolutely amazing.
- Poor Tutorial - This is a hack n slash
game but game does a lot of things in a very
unique way. e.g. There is no dodge option,
to defend yourself you need to launch light
attack in the direction of enemy i.e.
parrying. Then there are other things like
blade mode and it is quite important that
you fully understand how it works in order
to beat the game. Creativity is a good thing
but as a developer you need to provide a
tutorial that not only explains but makes
sure that player grabs it. Coming to the
point, say a parrying tutorial should not
finish untill you manage at least one
successfull move of the same. But in MGRR
you are given enemies(not dummies as they
fight back) to practice on and when you kill
them tutorial is over whether you did what
was told or not! So in my playthrough
tutorial finished and game started, I
learned half of things without knowing
anything about the other half. What followed
was an hour or two of massacre where I
barely survived for seconds even in front of
regular enemies. I have ton of experience in
games. so I knew that I missed something,
imagine someone who might be starting
his/her gaming first time with MGRR, in
world of 6 billion peoples someone would
have! They may never even come back.
- The final boss fight is needlessly hard
even on normal difficulty, though many other
boss fights were hard too but at this point
you will most likely be without any nano
pastes(health packs). Then during this last
fight I realised that there is still
something I failed to grab in tutorials ! It
took me around 4 hours to beat this boss
(rest of the game was 5 hours).
- Lack of moves - What is a hack n slash
game without good moves in it? |
