With the action packed campaign mode and the intriguing gameplay, Gears 3 is the best shooter game to the date. Epic delivered us what was expected from them. Enemies have improved and increased since the last game and boss fights are now more fun. I even restarted one of the fights before the checkpoint hits, just to experience it all again. Turns out it became much harder next time and took multiple tries which earlier I did in first go haww. Game also features the four player split screen co-op mode, something no developer try to care about these days. It's true that people prefer online than split screen but if you are already providing online co-op mode then it is quite a cheat to skip the split screen option. Graphics have improved a lot, at least it was easily noticeable in the first chapter. I guess later on I was totally occupied by the gameplay to notice anything else. Storyline is simple like always, no jaw dropping moments but little emotional touch was given this time. I gave 80% points in length as it was at least twice of what shooters are these days. It has 9-10 hrs of campaign and I believe that this should be a minimum target for every shooter game.

Review

Dead Island in few words 'The zombie open world experience'. Dozens of zombie like creatures closing in from every direction, few can run others just drag themselves. It is a good experience but lacks in several respects. The poor facial animation, a human face looks like a 'pasted mask with moving lips' Also the male characters in the game have a very unusual habbit of dancing with their faces while they are talking to you. Gameplay is good but the main focus of the game is a 4 player co-op. Game is designed in every respect to be played in a co-op mode which is little frustrating if you are playing alone. e.g. You may be doing a mission alone but when cutscenes come, all main 4 protagonists are shown like they were there all the time. Even if you talk to someone in the game, the other characters respond like there are 3 invisible characters also alongside. The main problem is that number of enemies remain same whether you play alone or co-op, this makes survival extremely difficult. To deal with this game provides you in built 'God mode' It is not optionable, whenever your health depletes, you spawn at some nearest location in 5 seconds without restarting the mission. This makes you lazy enough to put any effort in the fight. Though there are few escort missions, where your survival is important else the person you are escorting will be left alone for 5 seconds which could easily end the mission. Instead of all this 3 AI controlled players should have been given like in most of the games. This would have helped to keep balance in the difficulty and fights a bit more interesting in single player. For most of the time it is better to run than to stand and fight but few times game creates a situation where fight is  mandatory. There is some RPG element in the game like skill tree and melee weapons being most effective against zombies makes inventory management important. There is one very unusual thing in the escort missions, though you are sent to previous checkpoint in case of failure to defend but any ammo or weapons you consumed are not reverted back to you and in case you earn any new weapon the same is taken away from you. This could lead you into a situation of no weapons. Repetition is taken good care of in the game, whenever game starts becoming dull, it changes the experience. But still after all the problems, kudos to developer for creating an open world game where competing with Rockstar was really challenging. Storyline is moderate, remains slow for most of the time but gains pace towards the end.

Pros
1. A very unique gameplay, you can shift into any vehicle (including traffic) anytime. This real time shifting opens up wide range of possibilities and game utlilizies them perfectly to create experience you would have never went through in any other game.
2. As much the game is easy in the beginning as it is challenging and unforgiving towards the end.
3. Though main storyline races are few but there are a lot of secondary events and challenges that provide around 15+ hours of fun.
4. Heavy traffic racing.
5. Quite a big map and whole of it is available to you. Anytime you can press A, zoom out and shift to some other area in the game.

Cons
1. In non-storyline events you can bring any car that you have unlocked and purchased. You can bring Lambhorghini against slow speed jeeps leaving the poor AI no chance to win.
2. It is strange that for booster only 'RB' or 'forward on joystick' are allowed to be used.

The Codemasters, word itself means beware and they once again brought us a below par experience. The game has lots of problems not one. The environment is repetive, it seems they made multiplayer maps and same were used for single-player campaign too. Result is that you keep on going through same areas over and over again. Enemy AI is dumbest I have ever seen. There is also some trouble with audio, environment sounds are even higher than bulletfire. e.g. sparks due to damage, are pitched so loud that you will wish to quickly move on to next level just to avoid them. Game also reminds me of Crackdown in respect to some elements, which is not a good thing either. In short this game is horrible.

Few years earlier I used to hate RPG games but that's long ago & it got all changed with Mass Effect 2. Since then I have played few RPGs including Fallout & now RPGs are all over in my Top 10 Games list. I even named Mass Effect 2 as GOY'2010. Thanks to all that I played Deus Ex, the Action RPG. Deus Ex is something special, something uncomparable. From it's 'Stealth or Attact you choose gameplay' to Audio and to storyline, all deserves full marks. It's a never forgettable experience & for all these reasons, I can easily say that it's the best game that I ever played. If you didnt played it, stop calling yourself a gamer.

Guns, chicks, explosions, dialogues...everything is in this game but just missed one thing...greatness in all of these, something memorable. It's just play, get bored and leave, kind of experience. Like other shooters these days this one is also very small, sad, only RPGs satisfy our need for longer games now. Game is not open world but does gives an experience similar to one, like there are lot of car chases etc. Story is little weird, hard to enjoy. In short thumbs down.

The game that is scary, the game that strikes fear in you,,is called F.3.A.R. It is hard for a game to be both scary and action packed but Fear 3 provides both. It's a fast paced action game that has lot of horror elements. To be honest, there were lot of 'oh shit' moments in this game. Don't play in the night will be my advice. Not just that, game is quite challenging also, there are lots of boss fights which are not easy to beat. Forget about horro movies, play Fear !!

Duke is a good shooter game, it is not something though that will make you play it again & again but yes it's still a good one time play. Duke's jokes or you should say dialogues are funny. Game is lengthy enough & keeps on bringing the change in gameplay. It is quite a traditional FPS shooter, apart from the shooting there are ocassional puzzles to find your way ahead, which I really found interesting.

Review

All the points this game got are for last 2-3 missions, otherwise game is quile slow and boring. You would play this game only if you are out of games or something. You lead a team of four and instead of poping enemy heads, you spent most of the time healing yourself and your team members too. Checkpoints are at odd spots & there is lot of time you spend waiting before the action continues. Team members don't follow instructions many time. Graphics are good, there was quite a view in one of the mission that is played in night time, if you keep night vision off. In short game is playable but not enjoyable.
